What is sap testing
SAP Testing is same as Software Application testing; however, here the applications is SAP ERP. At whatever point you make a change in SAP software, test cases need to be created to check the new functionality. SAP testing can also involve – Performance Testing. (to check the speed of sap applications) & web testing (for SAP web portals).
Now consider this case. You are switching from SAP Testing project to another SAP Testing project in the new company. You instantly recognize the GUI, Transaction codes, vanilla business workflows which is a huge advantage. You will need to learn the customizations made by the client, but still, you need an in-depth knowledge of the software.
The most significant advantage as SAP Tester is that due to the in-depth functional knowledge you acquire, you can quickly become an SAP
read lessSAP testing can be classified into two categories - technical as well as functional. For specialized one need to be part of the team which does the code change, i.e. Sap Labs. For functional testing, one needs to know the process flow, business requirements and expected outcome. Based o. Business requirements, test cases need to be prepared, parametrization in various modules needs to be understood as per the access matrix, workflows, and execute the testing accordingly. Most of the time, it's done by the chosen uses from the Organisation only. One can be part of the partner which are decided to support the application and change management in production.
read lessSAP Testing covers a vast swath of activities. But I will give it a shot and try to avoid the technical names like unit, integration, performance and regression.
During implementation, there are about five levels of testing (depends mostly on a budget), ranging from necessary functional testing right on up to the full-on unit and integration testing.
You first have to test that it is configured correctly and as designed.
Keep in mind, just because it works as designed, doesn't mean your design is correct in the first place, so you also have to test and verify that it does what is needed.
You then need to test that it still works correctly, or plays well, with all the related components that it is designed to work with. For example, test whether when you create a P.O., a financial obligation is created in the finance module.
You will also need to perform various types of load testing, in other words, use a simulation tool to hit it with massive transaction volumes to find out where and whether it will break (it can nearly always be broken). You need to know this for a lot of reasons, particularly with regards to hardware sizing, network performance optimization and other technical aspects of your environment.
Finally, you will need to ensure that your system plays well with others by performing cross-system testing. For instance, it is not unusual for a Bank to have 100s if not 1000s of operations, and SAP will need to be tested and certified as operating successfully in this landscape.
I hope this is beneficial to you.
Hi Yasmeen,
SAP testing is the procedure to check the functionality of different SAP modules configuration to make sure it's working. SAP testing is one of the demanding profile in the industry, if you know the business flow of SAP Modules, for example, MM module which includes P to P cycle, S.D. module which provides for O to C cycle you can work for such profile.
SAP testing processes to ensure you test the designed Business functionality is free from Bugs/Errors and to fix the issues arising during testing. This is a critical function to make sure to retest and ensure. Design is free from residual bugs to the extent possible. Different testing types include Unit test, System Integration testing, User Acceptance testing and Regression Testing.
SAP testing is of Manual and Automated test execution using UFT/Selenium etc. Different test tools used are HP ALM/Jira/Solution manager.
Testing as a specialization also has a very good scope in the UK/US and India.
SAP Testing is all about testing the functionality of various SAP modules and ensuring their performance as per the configuration. The basic idea behind introducing SAP (System Applications and Products) was to provide the customers with the ability to interact with common corporate databases for a comprehensive range of applications. SAP is an integrated ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) to make the business process work efficiently.
