The Speaking section of the PTE Academic exam consists of various tasks that assess different aspects of your spoken English skills. Here's an overview of the structure of the Speaking section:

  • Skills Assessed: Listening and speaking skills, accuracy, and pronunciation.
  • Number of Items: Multiple.

3. Describe Image:

  • Skills Assessed: Vocal  fluency, vocabulary, and content understanding.
  • Number of Items: Multiple.

4. Re-Tell Lecture:

  • Task Description: You will hear a lecture or part of a lecture. Your task is to summarize the information you heard in a short spoken response.
  • Skills Assessed: Listening and speaking skills, content understanding, and coherence.
  • Number of Items: Multiple.

5. Answer Short Question:

  • Task Description: You will hear a question. Your task is to provide a brief spoken response.
  • Skills Assessed: Quick thinking, concise speaking, and content understanding.
  • Number of Items: Multiple.

Note:

  • The Speaking section is integrated with other skills, such as listening and reading. For example, the Re-Tell Lecture task combines listening and speaking skills.

  • The tasks are timed, and you need to complete them within the allocated time. It's crucial to manage your time effectively to respond to all the items.

  • The responses are recorded and assessed by an automated scoring system, which evaluates pronunciation, Vocal  fluency, and content. Clear and accurate communication is key to performing well in the Speaking section.

To prepare for the Speaking section, familiarize yourself with each task type, practice with sample questions, and consider taking full-length practice tests to simulate the actual exam conditions. This will help you build confidence and refine your spoken English skills.
