Earlier the photography was not forgiving in terms of technicality, the professional photographers used get nightmares till they used to get the final result from the lab, I have seen the out of focus images of India's top photographers. Today you have LCD display, training and knowledge bank, also the digital cameras can help you in understanding the usage of all the features, the options pop up on the screen with help, in analog days this was not available. Also in the film photography every trial had a cost attached around Rs.3/picture to Rs. 160 per picture for professional films. Today you can shoot 100s of images with zero per pic cost. Very few photographers could afford a Lab setup for processing, I was lucky enough to find the lab equipment in a junk store and had a lab of my own for few thousand, but today every photographer has a professional lab on the computer of their own for zero additional cost. read less

Many will argue that shooting analog is a more personal and enjoyable experience – that decision, is completely up to you. read less

As it is already in the word, it has become digital. The digital age has taken over the reel age. The earlier day's photography was a completely different world. Using those cameras in this digital age is a challenge. Because we are unaware of the usage and we are unaware of they should be processed later. Those cameras are now called Vintage cameras. I wouldn't say that the digital photography is bad because it has made life easier but I would say if we at least know and be aware of the photography pattern before digital came into play we will be able to respect the art and at the same time we will have a lot of knowledge. Hope I answered the question read less

The argument goes on and on. Photography is the same but the technology changed. In digital photography, the light is captured and processed by the sensor where in analog photography(earlier day's photography) the light is captured by the film. Earlier, there were darkroom to process those old fashioned film roles/TPs and now its done by the computer. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages. From my point of view, if you are passionate about photography, you should learn the basics with the analog camera. Then you will know how careful we are in each step from selecting the film till the final print comes. Nobody will underestimate the art. Best of luck. read less

There is non in terms of taking picture...as the main component which is how to capture light in the most effective manner remains the same as the frame within is the strongest and the most effective way to organise a picture. To use it well calls for the ability to notice things - to see clearly the basic elements which make-up the appearance of subject. Other aspects are secondary. If you ask technically digital is much faster than the film camera. Easier to learn and see result instantaniouely Earlier photographer use to expose, develop and give the images to the client. Today photographer requires expertise in photoshop and Lightroom before giving images to the client and is in full control of his images. As per the resolution It has surpass the 35mm film resolution but still not close to medium format and large format cameras. Medium format use to produce 400 MP of resolution and 50 to 80 MP when scanned and large format like 4"x5" can produce 200 MP of resolution after scan. Its just that photographer who have used film will always love film as first love. read less

Very different. Previously it was complete analog and now it is digital. You can click the picture and see the result. But in analog photography you could see the result only after develpijgthe negative.

This could be really long topic but just a few points I would like to mention are as follows Photography changed in many ways by going digital in terms of ease of use : 1) Earlier you put a film of 100,200 or 400 ISO and it was a fixed factor for the entire film but now in digital one can click every picture at a different ISO upto 6400, 12800 without extra investment 2) One can immediately view the image captured and re click if the image is technically or aesthetically not good thus making learning easy Cons : Though one saves on films and prints but the initial cost to buy a digital SLR is higher as compared to film SLRs. Immediate viewing and digital manipulation had made photographers a bit casual in their approach and hence they click more pictures then needed . This creates a lot of digital junk in computer. Above all those who think there is no cost attached to per click on digital SLR are mistaken as every Digital SLR has a shutter life and after that particular number either shutter needs repairing or it wont give perfect shutter speeds. read less
