Earlier the photography was not forgiving in terms of technicality, the professional photographers used get nightmares till they used to get the final result from the lab, I have seen the out of focus images of India's top photographers. Today you have LCD display, training and knowledge bank, also the digital cameras can help you in understanding the usage of all the features, the options pop up on the screen with help, in analog days this was not available. Also in the film photography every trial had a cost attached around Rs.3/picture to Rs. 160 per picture for professional films. Today you can shoot 100s of images with zero per pic cost. Very few photographers could afford a Lab setup for processing, I was lucky enough to find the lab equipment in a junk store and had a lab of my own for few thousand, but today every photographer has a professional lab on the computer of their own for zero additional cost.

As I see your question below - there is no specific DSLR made for wildlife or fashion or wedding or portraits. The DSLRs are of 3 Categories - Entry Level - Semi Pro - and Pro. A pro Kit will cost you 3 to 8 Lakhs - A semi Pro wild life kit comes for 1 to 2 Lakhs, and an Entry level is under 1 Lakh.... ...more

Also you need some more money to spend on travel, remember to become a good wildlife photographer and build the pro portfolio you need to go to different wild life sanctuaries and build the Photo-documentaries in order to impress the clients and earn the assignments. (which many photographers have done with Compact superzooms), some more money you will need to invest on Books and study your favorite birds, mammals, snakes etc before you enter into jungle. It's more important than your DSLR.
