Hindustani music is raga based music and carnatic is Kirti based music. If we see both the history carnatic is originated in the bakti movement and hindustani is originated during vedic period. And also we can say that carnatic is homogeneous and hindustani is heterogeneous. Usually hindustani music belongs from northern region and carnatic music is from souther region. Carnatic bit tough to learn as it is gamakas and kirti based music.
