Intensity of a sound wave is defined as the amount of sound energy passing through a unit area per second. Loudness is a measure of the response of the ear to the sound. The loudness of a sound is defined by its amplitude. The amplitude of a sound decides its intensity, which in turn is perceived by the ear as loudness.

LOUDNESS
1) It is subjective quantity. This means that a sound may be loud for one person and may be faint for another person.

INTENSITY
1) It is an objective physical quantity. It means that it doesn't vary person to person.
2) It can be measured as a physical quantity.
3) The intensity of any sound is measured in watts per square meter. (W/m^2)
