Solution:- Let the common multiple be 'x' years.
Therefore, Present age of P and Q will be 5x and 3x respectively.
Afteer 6 years,
P's age will be 5x+6 &
Q's age will be 7x+6
According to the given condition,
(7x+6)-(5x+6)=2
7x+6-5x-6=2
2x+0=2
x=1
Therefore, P's present age=5x=5×1=5 years&
Q's present age=7x=7×1=7 years.
Total of P's and Q's present age=5+7=12 years.
