Speed reading happens only with practice. hence this 6 month course will help your child to get habitual to reading. Each session of 40-45 mins would contain activities like 1. Brain Storming which enables a child to express her/ his view over the subject , builds up confidence and helps in public speaking . 2. A video summary of the book to get the child involve and evolve through listening skills. 3. Reading out loud to the class , not only helps in clarity of speech but also in enunciation of words and getting into the fluency. 4 At the end of the session , students are given an assignment in the form of a research which excites them to continue reading the book. For the class: Your child has to be ready with a notebook and a pencil (Avoid Pens) to jot down the vocabulary and glossary related to the book being read. We pick one book each month and there would be 4 sessions every month on Saturdays @ 12 noon. To sum up: Try these tips to encourage your child to read — and hopefully build a love of reading. Read it again and again. ... Make reading real. ... Don't leave home without something to read. ... Dig deeper into the story. ... Make reading a free-time activity. ... Take your time. ... Pick books at the right level. ... Play word games. Read to each other. Point out the relationships between words. Make books special. Let your child choose. Look for a series of books. . Change up reading activities to play to your child’s strengths. If your child loves to draw or make things, create a book together. Fold paper and staple it to resemble a book. Work together to write sentences on each page and have your child add illustrations or pictures. Then read it out loud together.
