How to Solve Numericals in Physics?

Vaidnyanic

Vaidnyanic is my humble attempt to make studies interesting to students and make them more curious and...

Are you scared of numerical? Do you think you don't understand them? If yes, then read ahead. See, it might be any exam, but numerical won't leave your back. Are you scared of numerical? Do you think you don't understand them? If yes, then read ahead.

See, it might be any exam, but numerical won't leave your back.

So let's talk about common problems and their solutions:

Problem 1: Sir, I am not able to understand what the numerical is saying!

Solution: It's simple, read again, find the meaning of the word and see again and again for words you don't understand. It's a problem of vocabulary or non-understanding of concepts.

Let me give you an example:

Force is mass multiplied by acceleration. So if I want to ask you to find the force and frame it like "Find force when mass is 5kg, and acceleration is 8 m/s²", I don't think anybody would have a problem. Now the same question when I frame it like " Find the rate at which momentum changes for a 5kg body moving with a constant rate of 8 m/s²" is the same question why did you feel it to be difficult? Firstly, because you might not know that the rate of momentum is a force as per Newtons 2nd law, nowhere does it mention mass or acceleration, and you might not know its units. So we can't get hold of a numerical either if we don't understand the words that the paper setter is using or simply are not aware of the concept.

I'll tell you a fun fact. Many times teachers interpret questions differently. So it is okay, and eventually, you will get the hang of it.

Problem 2: I make a lot of silly mistakes.

Solution: Practice! Practice! Practice! And work on your focus because we have Netflix, amazon prime, IPL, Anime and many more things in our life to distract us. BTW I have learned how to balance, so if I can, you can too! Find your distractions work on them learn to focus.

Know what everyone does is eventually stop doing numerical, and they avoid practice which is quitting. Don't do that. Tell yourself you can do it, and humans make errors. Be happy the next time you make a mistake and make sure you work on it and never repeat it.

How to approach numerical?

1) Find the concept hidden like in the above example; the concept is of force.

2) Identify the formula or formulas related to the concept. (While practising, it is okay if you look at the formulas rather than memorizing). In the example, the formula is F =M x A.

3) Try to fit the given data in the formula and see how you can get the asked data. So in the above example, since M and A are given, it's a matter of just putting the values. But what if instead of A, they give you U, V and S. As I can see, these are variables from the kinematic equations, and if A is constant, I can use them and find A and hence F.

4) Remember Units. I can't emphasize enough on this enough. Sometimes units will give you a helping hand.

PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE!

* Rotation is nothing but rotating an object through an angle of 90 degrees, 180 degrees, 270 degrees either clockwise or anticlockwise.

* For rotating 90 degrees clockwise and anticlockwise the steps are same

* For rotating 180 degrees clockwise and anticlockwise the steps are same

First, we will look into 90-degree rotation(it may be clockwise or anticlockwise)

for 90 degrees rotation, the co-ordinates (from the quadrant it is plotted) should be swapped and changed(signs) according to the destination it is going.

For example, consider a co-ordinate (2,3) from the co-ordinate we know that it lies in the first quadrant. In the question, if they are asking to rotate the given co-ordinate to 90 degrees clockwise and write the co-ordinate?

Solution: (2,3) lies in the first quadrant. In the first quadrant, both the x and y values are positive. Here we are going to rotate this co-ordinate to an angle 90 degree clockwise

The first step is we have to swap the points that are (3,2)

If the point is rotated to 90 degrees clockwise, it will go to the fourth quadrant. In the fourth quadrant, x values are positive, and y values are negative therefore the answer is (3,-2)

for 180 degrees rotation, the co-ordinates (from the quadrant it is plotted) should not be swapped; only the sign should be changed according to the destination quadrant.

Example 2: Rotate the point (-3,2) to 180 degrees clockwise

Solution: (-3,2) lies in the second quadrant. In the second quadrant, x values are negative, and y values are positive.

To rotate this co-ordinate 180 degree, the thing is we should not swap the points we should consider the numbers without a sign, i.e.(3,2)

If we rotate to 180 degrees clockwise, the points will go to the fourth quadrant. In the fourth quadrant, x values are positive, and values are negative; therefore, the answer is (3,-2).

As Corona is spreading in the almost entire world, the situation of parents/ families is very critical as such cases keep them worrying about their children and other family members.

For Parents, this is the most crucial phase as they have to take care of their children’s health with proper psychological understanding. Understanding children’s problems, their worries and keep them relax is the most tedious task for parents in this pandemic. The most important task for parents to make their children comfortable and less anxious. Stress also makes children worry and anxious. Parents should talk to their children regularly about their feelings and their worries in this outbreak.

They keep on trying and ask questions to their children about their views and their several doubts about the current situation. Whenever you see, a negative emotion developing in your child, try to incorporate and practise mental health exercises which help to deal you with negative and uncomfortable feelings.

Try to incorporate more conversations about mental health and its related issues which keeps your children more relax and unwind. Talk openly with children about what they feel, their likes and dislikes, and what they want to prefer in this outbreak time. Talking makes children comfortable will relieve your worries as well as theirs too.

Encourage their expression through creative activities and build their memorandum, which keeps them motivated. In small children, there is a constant feeling of being alone and sadness, try to make them calm and relax with stories and playful activities.

Engage your kids in educational activities like workbooks, Educational games. Participate in family routines and planning strategies to enhance health promotion behaviours. For children limit media exposure, talking about what they have seen/heard and address stigma, prejudice and potential injustices occurring during an outbreak.

Parenting is difficult in general, but during such a crisis, it is tough to deal with their behavioural issues.

I wish all the parents, try to understand and incorporate healthy mental discussions and problems with your children.

Keep calm and manage this crisis with happy parenting.

In French, It is a common habit to greet a person whom you know or not. The complexity lies in the following factors:

- The person you greet (is it a person whom you are already well acquainted with or not)
- The age of the person (is the person younger or older)
- The gender of the person (are you dealing with a male or female)
- When dealing with a female (is she married or not)
- The time of the day (morning, noon, afternoon, evening, night, midnight)
- The circumstance (whether you are meeting the person or leaving the person)

When greeting in French, you first wish a good day, then politely ask about the well-being of the person we address ourselves to. Knowing already how to ask a question is not mandatory, but can help framing the question the right way.

A)
- Bonjour! Bonsoir! Salut! are used to say either Good morning, Good afternoon/evening or Hi/hello
- Bonjour or Bonsoir Monsieur!/Madame!/Mademoiselle are used to say either Good morning Sir, Madam or miss (a young lady and unmarried)

Note: the object of the question would reply back by saying: Bonjour! Bonsoir! Salut

- Comment ca va?, Ca va?, Tu vas bien? Are used to say "How are you" to well known person and mostly a person of our age or younger.

Note: the object of the question would reply back by saying: Ca va bien (I a fine), Ca va mal (I am not fine), Comme ci comme ca (so so), Pas mal (I am ok, more good than bad)

B)
- Comment allez-vous? is used to say "How are you" to strangers, but also to know persons that are older to us.

Note: the object of the question would reply back by saying: Je vais bien, merci (I am fine thanks), Je vais mal (I am not fine).

C)
1- While meeting (saying for exp Good morning, after...):
- From 12 am to 12 pm use Bonjour
- From 12 pm to 12 am use Bonsoir

2- While leaving (saying have a good day/evening...):
- From 6 am to 12 pm use Bonne journey
- From 1 pm to 3 pm use Bonne apres-midi
- From 4 pm to 8 pm use Bonne soiree
- From 9 pm to 12 am use Bonne nuit

Note: It is not unlikely that a person would wish a good morning between 12 am to 6 am (while meeting as it is a new day that started) and Goodnight between 12 am to 2 am (while leaving as it is still dark)
