To prepare forthe IELTS (academic) speaking test, you're supposed to understand the structure of the exam in the first place. Once you understand that you'll have a fair idea of what to expect in the exam. It's a very simple and straightforward exam in which the examiner will ask you to introduce yourself to him/her and then answer some general follow up questions based on what you have said in your introduction.
Next, the examiner will give you a couple of topics to choose from and you'll have to answer questions based on your selection. The questions get complicated as you progress through the examination.
To start preparing for the exam, first of all go through all the study material provided by the British Council and take help from a reputed and experienced trainer who can help you practice efficiently.
