Joydev, your questions is ‘How to get Band 6 in the IELTS test’. Well, try to understand the structure of the test and simplify it by dividing into 2 segments- Quantitative and qualitative. Quantity refers to Reading and Listening. Now, to achieve Band 6 you need to get between 23-26 questions right, as far as Academic is concerned and 30-31 questions correct for the General version. For listening, you must get 23-25 answers right to get Band 6. Listening is common to both the versions, Academic and General. Now, the quality segment is difficult to assess. It would be difficult to post the exact requisites for the tasks, but suffice here to try and grasp the examiner’s mind-set and above anything, for the writing and speaking modules, stay true to the questions asked and use as simple a language skill as possible. What is mean is, use words and phrases which are a part of your daily life, new words newly learnt and used wrongly is a direct recipe for disaster. read less
