Try to find a guru if you can. In my case, my guruji just showed me how to place my fingers and asked me to never get my fingers locked while playing. Later on, I just picked it up all by myself and started to play.
But I'm not a pro in it. I guess it's all about practice and if possible try to learn from a guru properly.

For harmonium learning, one has to practice all alankaras in all 10 basic Ragas derived from 10 basic Thatas. Proper finger technique should be followed. All alankaras should be practice with indian Rhythms such as kehrawa dadra or Rupak with the help of a electronic Tabla. All this process of Riyaz should be done under a proper Guide.
