Pushpinder Bhardwaj

Namaste Everyone!!

My name is Pushpinder Bhardwaj, and I have been teaching Sitar from last 28 years with 13 years of working experience in Amity International School, Sec 46, Gurgaon.

A winner of many national awards, I started learning Sitar at the tender age of 7 in "Khayal Gaiki Ang" from my father and guru Pandit Chaitendra Bhardwaj and then learnt Dhrupad Ang in "Beenkar Gharana" of Pt. Ravi Shankar Ji's style from Pt. Uma Shankar Mishra Ji.

I made my debut by performing four times on All India Radio at the age of 11. I graduated from M.D. University, Rohtak in 1986 and took and took my master's degree from the same university in 1988 and was a topper, merit holder and gold medalist at the university throughout.

In 1986-87, I played Sitar in Indira Gandhi stadium and the said event was presided over by the late Shri Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime minister of India. I also played at India Habitat Center and later at an international function held at Bombay organized by International Federation of Accounts for foreign delegates at Centaur, Juhu. I was also interviewed by Zee TV covering my music career.

I presented my "Sitar Vaadan" at one of the cultural evenings during Surajkund Crafts Mela, Faridabad in the presence of large audience and was highly praised in the media for the same. On 27th June, 2002, I performed at the Nehru Center (High Commission of India), London. The programme was attended by large audience. Mr. Girish Karnad, the Chief Guest honored me with an appreciation speech for my performance. I also performed at The Albert Hall, London which was too highly appreciated.

I sincerely believe that Indian Classical music is divine and is the speech of the angles. It melts the hearts and is spiritually enlightening. It not only elevates the soul but also expels diseases and softens every pain. It is the medicine of troubled mind. I have recently established Chaitanya Kala Kendra in Gurgaon to propagate this message to the young talented students of India.
