Answer Well, it can be same as that of a relationship for many.
However, I have seen people get bored of playing and give up due to many reasons
1)The fingers pain
2)the hand pains
3)no willingness to practice.
Just touch your instrument once a day. May be for 10 mins may be for 50mins.

It's a good question. And answer are easy, you felt like giving up when you get bored with daily practices of scales,exercises etc. thinking i m not good with guitar, yet important practices. Practice makes man successful..So sometimes you need to learn and make chalenges by learning new songs or solo which you are interested.
