In the English language, there are several words which are derived from German, and the French language as they share a long history between them. These three languages are Indo European, and it is believed that a lot of English words are borrowed from French. They share several similarities, true cognates and alphabets.
When we look at the ratio, we will find a larger no. of people feel more connected to English than French. The reason behind this is English, being a global language, has many speakers around the world. Also, it is much easier to learn as compared to French.
