The German language is natural for those who know English because :
- German language learners do not have to learn a new alphabets/script say like the Russian Alphabet / Cyrillic script, which makes it easy for English speakers to start writing in the German language easily and right away.
- The pronunciation rules are not as complicated as in English
- Many basic, commonly spoken words in English and German are very similar. Some have the same spelling and some a slightly different spelling. Some have a completely different pronunciation some are often incredibly similar in their pronunciations. Let us look at some of these:
- English - is/sing/drink/send/Camera/Contact/House/Coffee - Bus / Nation
- German - ist/singer/Trinken/Senden/Kamera/Kontakt/Haus/Kaffee - Bus(Boos)/Nation(Natseeon)
What makes the German language different from English, is the genders of its Nouns. The categorisation is similar to Sanskrit / Marathi / Hindi. So Table (Tisch) is Masculine Noun in German, and a Watch (Uhr) is Feminine. Similar to Indian languages, you are used, unlike English, formally or with respect (AAP) and informally (tum). Plurals are formed in different ways and not just by adding -s
When these points are kept in mind when learning German, it is easy to learn the language.
