There are 2 types of paddhati in our Indian Classical Music. Hindustani and Carnatic Music( which are being used in Kerala,Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh) and the rest follows the rules of Hindustani Music also known as Northern Music. You should refer the" 40 theories of Hindustani Classical Music"
