First, you should start teaching him/her about vowels, then continue by picking it up to form where you see him/her getting interested in it. You can start with music reading poems and some light novels and short essay, watching movies shows, and animated series in English. Keep encouraging them to learn more, and it will work like a charm.

To improve communication skills, one must learn:

1. Please make sure both the parties are aware of the topic they are conversing about
2. Don't be stiff, and use of excessive hand movements should be avoided
3. Start improving your vocab as it will improve your knowledge about the language and help build your confidence.
4. Try to start with some light conversing topic and look out for others interested in what you are talking about (don't get serious and boring).
5. To improve your confidence level, start practising in front of a mirror listen/read the work in that language you want to communicate in.
