Please be gentle but correct all. It will only improve the student's grasp of the language, it will not hurt the student ability to make sense of the language. Be gentle, and let the student know what you intend to do, clearly.

A language which has brought jobs and also has resulted in a loss of jobs for many. It's a language people can communicate in when their languages are not comprehended. English is the lnaguage of peace and it is the language that declares war as well. As a language it is symbolic of ancient Anglo openess towards open trade and tolerance of other languages. Most of its words have roods in Latin, French, Germa, Sanskrit and other tribal dialects of the ancient world. Speaking, strictly for the language of English. Well, it is like any other language. It is as difficult to learn as the learner's lack of motivation, and as easy to learn as the learner's determination. It is not poenetic, which means, what you write is not what you speak. It is formal and informal and derogatory, but so is any other language on the planet. There are languages, however which don't have words such as war and crime in their vocabulary, so English is also a language of introducing concepts foreing to people. English is a way of life that is welcoming of other's way of life. In short, English is whatever you want it to be. Fun, challenging, alienating, compassionate, etc. So, what is English to you?
