Hi, I'm an automation test engineer and a certified s/w test engineer (CSTE - QAI). I work with databases at a beginner level but I'm planning to master working with databases. I'm interested in taking a certification exam as-well. I am not interested in making a career switch but want to add it to my skill set. Considering my background, what training/certification should I go for? Please also suggest some beginner level certifications that would be helpful for me to add to my skill set.

It is relatively easy and for learning purpose you can download SQL Server Express (though you need to do bit of internet research) and with some of the free tutorials online or YouTube or with any beginner's book you should be sailing smooth. Microsoft has good series of Certification as well which are world word recognized as well. Also, please note that any certification should be well supported by good knowledge and understanding of modules! Hope this helps! read less

Hi kumar, try to learn any one DB, I suggest to go for Oracle database. why? Once you know oracle db, then you can learn any db by your own. If you go for Mongo DB, it is mostly used in E-commerce site. SQL server mostly used with Micro soft technologies. So learn oracle.

Go for oracle fundamental -I (SQL) certification. This will be truly helpful to you in both sense. As SQL is prerequisite for developer as well as Tester.
