This is just a matter of thinking. They think only studies can make career of a person not Dance or Singing. Also they must have seen someone struggling hard in this field and no parents can see their childrens struggling so much. Dance is an art that need much dedication and practice and most of the time people give up after starting a career in it. If you want to make a career in dance you have to think in a creative as well as practical way to enhance your skills and also try to make some good contacts with people already in this field. Because the word 'dance' has many different meanings for different people. People see it as cheap, show-off, vulgar and indecent. And parents are concerned that their kids do not indulge in any such activity. Even if parents understand that dance is not a bad thing, they are afraid that their family and society will judge it to be a bad thing and so they don't want to spoil theirs and their kid's image. Second reason is money. Mostly people equate success with money. And in dance, money is not that easy to make. In any art form for that matter, it is not easy to earn as much as you can earn in corporate jobs. Therefore parents, in order to see their child 'succeed' do not want him or her to pursue dance as a career. read less

There are serious learners in dance .There are many institutions which help to give dance as a career for example Kalashetra . (one of the renowned institution where the children take dance and other arts as career) Pls go check ABHAI - Association of bharathanatyam artist of india, many workshops organised here to teach the art of bharathanatyam. I am also an association member in Prayatnam - young dance teachers association where we conduct workshops for the teachers to improve their knowledge to impart to the children. We conduct diploma exams both in theory and practicals every year from 1st to 6 levels and give certificates . read less

I am a good dancer. I can train people to dance on bollywood. No certification as such but I have won many certificates.I have prior experience of training people in group as well as solo dance competition for schools and colleges for beginners and intermediates.

Any Art related career is never accepted by parents.....because there is no exact formula to crack it ......The only way is to, keep your career moving forward by participating in competitions and winning it....which would build some credibility for taking forward your career..
