Compounds are formed when two or more elements combine together in a fixed proportion by weight. Whereas, mixtures are formed when two or more elements combine in any proportion by weight.

The different substances are not chemically joined together. Each substance in the mixture keeps its own properties. The compound has properties different from the elements it contains. Each substance is easily separated from the mixture.

Compounds are substances composed of two or more elements that are mixed in a stoichiometric ratio. For example-> 2moles of H2 combine with 1 mole of O2 to form one more of H2O. Thus water is a compound. A mixture on the other hand is a combination of two or more elements or compounds or between an...

Compounds have fixed properties. For example, a particular compound will have fixed temperatures at which it melts and boils. 5. A compound can have properties different from its constituents, as a new substance is formed when the constituents are chemically combined. 6. The constituents of a compound can be separated only by chemical methods. Mixtures 1. Mixtures are impure substances. 2. They are made up of two or more substances mixed physically. 3. The constituents of a mixture are present in varying ratios. 4. Mixtures do not have fixed properties. Their properties depend on the nature of their components and the ratios in which they are combined. 5. In mixtures, no new substance is formed. The properties of a mixture are the same as the properties of its constituents. 6. The constituents of a mixture can be separated easily by physical methods. read less

Compounds combine a fixed ratio and does have a different properties to that of its constituent molecules/elements. eg : water (h20), whereas in mixtures, the constituent materials does possess their own property and can be easily separated with physical method. You cannot separate compounds easily.
