Most people would suggest you to enter through ftre but don't. 2 reasons -
1 too much competition (every JEE aspirant in your area would give this exam)
2 they do increase the scholarship but they do increase the fees as well. For example they'll give u a 50 cent scholarship on 6lakhs which would still be less than 40 cent on 4 lacks.
