How should you study largelly depends on your end goal. Let's take it UPSC CSE as standard goal.
Make notes on every subject that you encounter. Keep them in a office file instead of having notebooks.
UPSC and rest of all start from 6th standard. Doesn't matter board. Knowledge is still the same.
If you notice, topics are taught in a progressive manner from 6th standard. I realized it way later. Statements like, 9th is for 11th. and 10th is for 12th are a myth only. It starts from 6th ends at graduation, in some case PhD.
So, be consistent with your notes, keep them organized. A separate file for each subject. Like for Physics, start from 6th, and it should end at graduation level.
This will come in handy when you appear for UPSC. Worked well for me while clearing CDS & AFCAT. I only studied once and made 13 successul written attempts.
You can find NCERT books online at official website. All Pdfs are available for free.
According to me,
Everything that you have been studied till clsss 8th is quite easy that can be memorized and rote thoroughly by that you can achieve good marks in exam.
But,
In class 9th rote and memorization can never be a solution of achieving good marks.
You should understand each and every topic with sincerity.
As the concept you study in 9th will serve as building block for further classes like 11th onwards.
Now question is how to study.
Never try to memorize social studies take it as story book read it as story, you will surely able to do all questions.
Exams in class 9th will show how less time are given for examination so increase your question solving speed.
Prefer rs Agarwal over rd Sharma because rd has lot of extra questions.
Firstly complete all the NCERT books with clearity then take the help of other extra books.
Make a habbit of making regular notes of the chapters.
Solve previous year question papers for understanding the question pattern for exam.
Hope it helps you!!!!
All the best for exam!!!!
Keep smiling!!!!!

When you go to college, high school life will suddenly seem much less important and interesting. Don’t waste your high school years trying to be popular or worrying about what people think about you. Have friends and do fun things, but also focus on your long-term life goals and do what it takes during high school to get into the colleges that will best prepare you to reach your life goals.
Once you start college, skip the drinking and risky behavior. You can still have fun without risking your college career. Hang out with people who have goals and who make the world a better place. Be one of those people. You don’t have to be just like other people to also be a leader, a contributor, and a great influence on others. Treat college like a job, starting at a certain time in the morning and working hard all day, ending at a time when you’ll be able to relax and get 8 hours of sleep before getting up. Get to know professors if you can, asking for advice and thanking them for it. Also, get to know people who know how to manage their time well. Learn from the best around you. Spend your college years developing personal discipline, getting to know the most interesting and productive people, and preparing yourself for your best career and life.
The person who is most impresive to employers, investors, and potential mates is usually to the person who was the class clown, the sharpest dressed, or the hard partier but rather the person with the most discipline, nicest personality, and most positive effect on others around them while at the same time accomplishing their goals in notable fashion.
