Syn means fusion and gamy means gametes. It is the fusion of first male nuclei of pollen grain with egg cell to form zygote. Triple fusion is fusion of second male nuclei og pollen grain with polar nuclei to form primary endosperm nucleus.                                               First malenuclei(n)+egg cell(n)= syngamy(2n) 2nd malenuclei(n)+polar nuclei(2n)= triple fusion(3n).                                                             

Syngamy + triple fusion = double fertilization.
