In angiosperms one male gamete fuse with egg cell and forms zygote. This phenomenon is known as syngamy. Triple fusion : The fusion of male gamete with diploid secondary nucleus to produce triploid primary endosperms nucleus (PEN) is known as triple fusion.

The gymnosperms are a group of vascular plants whose seeds are not enclosed by a ripened ovary. The leaves of gymnosperms are well adapted to withstand extreme humidity and temperature conditions. For example, in conifers the shape of the leaves is needle type.

Monocots differ from dicots in four distinct structural features: leaves, stems, roots and flowers. But, the differences start from the very beginning of the plant's life cycle: the seed. Within the seed lies the plant's embryo. Whereas monocots have one cotyledon (vein), dicots have two.

The root system of gymnosperms such as cycas consist of tap roots. Along with the tap roots,the coralloid roots present in cycas is found to have symbiotic association with cyanobacteria and bear a role in nitrogen fixation.
