Mridangam

"My name is Dr Praveen Sudhindar based out of the United Kingdom. I have been learning Mridhangam from Guru gopinath for the last 8 months. Shri Gopinath is an excellent teacher and is extremely patient while making me understand the lessons. He is quite flexible with the timing of the lessons and I really appreciate him for keeping up with online lessons despite the time difference. He has helped me grow as a musician in a short span of time since I started learning and I highly recommend him for those who want to learn Mridangam in a professional way."

Konnakol

"I’m currently in class 10. Since one month, I am learning flute under the guidance of Gopi sir. I used to think that flute was a male dominated instrument and was hesitant to learn it at first. But sir treated me as equally as everyone and I’m very happy about it. He is very polite and teaches everything so patiently. The main fact is that sir teaches the swaras so perfectly. When I’d attended my first flute class it was very difficult for me to even get the blow. I was at the end of my patience and was going to give up soon. but it was sir who consistently kept correcting and motivating me. He takes doubts anytime and always rectifies our mistakes. My favorite part of learning is learning the Konakkol. Sir is so much experienced in Konakkol and his rhythms are so mesmerizing to hear! So for sure, if you wish to learn flute, you won’t get a better teacher than Gopi sir! Thank you so much sir. "

Drums

"My brother(9) and I(14) are taking online drums and konakkol classes from USA. We really like Mr. Gopinath's teaching! It has been very helpful to me and my brother. He teaches the drums in a fun and effective way because Mr Gopinath helps us understand everything even when we are having trouble. Me and my brother have learned many beats and styles to play drums. We have also learned a lot of konakkol from him. I have been learning with Mr Gopinath from when I started playing drums and konakkol and I am much better than I was before. "

Mridangam

"I connected with shri. Gopinath through urban pro to teach mridangam for my 9 yr old son and me. We are learning mridangam via online from hyderabad. His pace of class and instructions are at ease which helps not only my son even me at late 30s to learn this wonderful musical instrument. Though our journey started only 3 months back, from this short experience I'm confident we are in safe hands, not only to learn mridangam, also other percussion or musical instrument over period of time. His classes and voice notes even made my 5 year old daughter to learn konakol of mrindangam and she looks forward to learn new konakol lesson every week. "I am a student from USA who started learning Mridangam full time online from Gopinath sir couple of months ago. It has definitely been a wonderful journey so far. Based on my personal experience with Gopinath, he has both in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of Mridangam and konnakol. In fact, I was amazed to see his passion towards music in general. Specifically , I would like to mention that it has been very comfortable for me to communicate and share any feedbacks related to the lessons. As part of his classes, you will get all the notes in pdf along with the voice notes for the same. He also never hesitates to send a short video clip when needed for more clarity for certain lessons. Additionally, he does not rush into advanced lessons unless he feels the student has had enough practice and matches his expectations.He is also very encouraging and straightforward . "It was only the Divine Blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and my Purva Janma Punya that I could come across my unique Mridangam Master and a multi-talented genius Sri Gopinath in UrbanPro. His reverence towards the instrument inspires me a lot. Being a Teacher myself, I really admire his appreciable teaching techniques and concern for his students. "My 7 year old boy started taking online mridangam lessons with Gopinath master 4 months ago and he has been thoroughly enjoying every session. The excitement of learning something new is keeping my little boy hooked to mridangam lessons with his guru Gopinath. He has now completed the basics and has moved on to the intermediate lessons such as ‘nadai’. One of Gopinath’s key strengths in teaching is the adaption of lessons to suit the skills and pace of the learner. Gopinath not only ensures that he introduces something new in every session, but he also stresses the importance of regular and methodical practice. Strong theoretical knowledge and background is also evident from his approach to teaching combined with clear explanations of the terminology used. "I joined classes with specific request to be patient with my learning skills and ability to pace upbto a yping GURU in Mr GOPI. To my surprise i found Guru GOPI (GG) to be playful and cheer my learnimg steps with abundant joy and enthusiasm. My GG gives me score put of 10 to gently nudge me to better in next classs. My learning at an advance age has become fun. I need some better grounding in theory content . I am just 3mths old and have completed 5MORAS and 3 Descending oeders in Madhyamkalam . "I want to deeply thank my guru Gopinath for incredible studying experience. I am from Kazakhstan. I stayed in Chennai for 13 days and Gopinath adapted Konakkol course specifically for me. I had lessons every day 2 hours each. They went at desirable pace, so I learned everything I could according to my current experience in music. His classes met my expectations and gave me even more, what I didn't expect. I came for konakkol and Gopinath excited me with his mridangam, so I decided to buy one. Gopinath fully assisted with buying mridangam for a more convenient price. Later he assisted me with buying another instrument, ganjira. I continued learning not only konakkol, but also mridangam. Gopinath is amazing, he's a professional musician, great teacher and just astonishing human being. He's very open and efficiently combines Eastern and Western approaches to teaching, making a foreigner like me settle down easier. Every meeting with him was a joy, which was a necessary energy source to study. He's answering all questions, explains everything that you ask to explain, very clear and informative. He teaches what's right and what's wrong, he's always on his toes and notices every little thing you need to correct early in your training. If you want to learn konakkol and mridangam the right way, meaning not only get the science and the knowledge, but get the proper learning experience which is very rare these days - guru Gopinath is the right choice. "I went with a doubt whether an old man in the age group of 50+ like me can learn and will be able to play. Guru is not the one who just teaches the subject but the one who prepares you to learn the subject. That is the first lesson he gave to me. Since then for the past 4 months the Guru- Shishya bond gets stronger with every class and I am sure it will go on for some more years. I am a slow learner and he has the patience to come along with me. Guru never leave their student at any stage. And, I am happy to say Guru.Gopinath posess it. So with Guru.
