"Gopinath is an excellent teacher. I've been consistently taking mridangam classes from him after deciding to spend 1 month in Chennai to learn about Carnatic music. I am originally from Australia. After trying a few teachers, I settled with Gopinath. Not only is he very skilled and knowledgeable about all things percussion, he is also a very clear communicator. Further, he adapts the lesson to what the student requires. In my case, I've already had years of western musical training and wanted to specifically hone in on percussion at a accelerated pace, which Gopinath was able to do. I highly recommend you to try at least a few lessons! "

"My son started Drums class with Gopi and is practicing with him for 2 years now. He took every step he could to create interest for my son on drums. He first made friends with my son, played with him after class hours, taught him some easy beats to create interest before going to regular class/lessons. He has been extremely professional, very punctual to classes. He made sure that the Skype lessons worked for my son few weeks before he actually went abroad. Prompt in giving accolades as well as what is not going well for my son and keeps me posted as well. My son scored distinction in his drums trinity exam and all credits goes to Gopi. He has extremely supportive and motivating my son throughout the preparation of his exam. I'll recommend Gopi very highly to anyone who wants to learn drums lessons. "

"Mr. Gopinath is a calm and respectful person. I told him that I only have 3 months time and he said that a lot can be learned and u can come daily if u wish. One thing that I like very much is the flexibility of timings. He can accommodate me in the early morning as well as in the late night. I could grasp the lessons quickly and so the pace of the class is fast and that's what I need because of the lack of availability of time. Sometimes I play a song and ask him the beats, for which he patiently listens and writes the notes for me. He emphasizes on the feel of the beat and asks me to play with different sticks for it. He innovates a lot of new rolls in the moment which is very good to play and hear. Another thing that I like is the tutoring is one-on-one and he immediately corrects my mistakes. Sometimes when a beat is tough, he teaches in such a way that I get it. He splits it into different parts, plays them for visual understanding. At the end of the day, he'll make u play it. He even teaches me beats from across the world like Bossa Nova, Rumba, Merengue, Samba to name a few. He also shares notes via WhatsApp and gives homework. He was very helpful right from selecting my kit to assembling it. He has already taken 50 hours of class for me in the span of one month. He is committed to teaching and his tutoring is worth the money. Overall, Mr.Gopinath is a great tutor and I highly recommend him without a second thought. "

"I am a paramedical professional and very much interested in music and playing drums. Thanks to Urpanpro. For i got Gopinath master for drums. He is the first one to respond me from urpanpro that shows the first impression will be best impression suits Gopi sir well. Highly talented ,very kind , soft spoken, truly motivating, very knowledgeable about the music, first class itself he made me to play on the drums. Teaching are very easy and understandable, which makes the practice very easier and can make a good neat steady progress in what we learn from him. Definitely it will give an special identity wherever we go and play. Builds our interest and confidence more and more to learn and to go deep in what we learn from him. "I am a mature medical doctor and I am very passionate about mridangam. Gopinath is an amazing teacher. His teaching is tailored to the student's knowledge base and the student's aspirations. Everyone can learn mridangam very well with him. Obviously the student needs to understand the lesson, ( Gopinath has got several techniques to make it easy for the student to understand the lessons ) practice daily, improve the tonal quality and the speed.
