Hello there!!
Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is a three-year undergraduate degree program. It gives young graduates many career options after BBA to choose from and to specialise in any area of their interest like international business, finance, real state, computer information systems, marketing, accounting, human resources, etc.; It is to be done after your (10+2) level.
It is often thought that MBA is the only option after BBA, but there is a wide range of career options other than MBA, and it all starts from where you want to see yourself in the future or what your interest is!
So when you ask the question if it is good or not, I think it entirely depends on what you want from it or what you are looking for. I can give you a little detail of what you will learn during BBA-
Different BBA subjects in the curriculum: Business Mathematics, Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Financial Accounting, Company Accounts, Business Statistics, Taxation, Business Law, Strategic Management, Marketing Management. It teaches basics of all the functions of a business like marketing, finance, HR, management, etc. to manage all aspects of a business successfully. So if you are interested to learn these topics or work in, you can take BBA. And if you are wondering what after BBA?, then here are some career options after BBA/ jobs that you can explore:
- MBA-Of course the MBA! It is the best masters degree to take up after the completion of BBA. It is especially crucial for people who are interested in managing their own business/start-up, or in taking up their family business to have work experience before going for an MBA.
1. You can give MBA entrance exams like CAT, MAT, GMAT, XAT, GRE.
2. Work experience also increases your chances of getting accepted to the MBA program of your choice.
3. Also make sure to learn about language exams like TOEFL, PTE, IELTS, etc. which will be required if you are looking for an MBA abroad.
- CA (Chartered Accountant)-You can undoubtedly opt for this if you’re interested in accounts, law and economics. It takes about five years to finish this entire course and has an age limit of up to 50 years. It includes subjects like Fundamentals of accounting, Quantitative aptitude, Mercantile Law, General Economics, General English & Business Communication.
- Government Jobs - SSC, Bank PO or Indian Railways- Now who doesn’t want a government job! It has many perks and benefits, good salary, job security, medical and retirement benefits and many more.
1. Bank PO (Probationary Officer) is an assistant manager of Scale I in the bank; also known as Scale, I officer. To secure this job, you must clear the Bank Exams through various public-sector banks across India like SBI PO, CWE, Canara Bank PO, IBPS PO, etc.
2. Railways: If you want to go for Railways, you have to clear Railways Recruitment Board(RRB) exams like Railway Officers Examination.
- Start-Up / Entrepreneurship-The trend these days! And why not, I think having an idea and the strength to implement it is not everyone’s cup of tea! So if you have the potential and enthusiasm, do go for it. Please work somewhere before starting your own business as it will give you some real experience.
- Law-LL.B. or Bachelor in Law is a three-year graduate-level course which students can pursue after their undergraduate in any discipline. Hence, graduates in Business Administration can also opt for LLB course after BBA.
- Hotel Management-If you are looking for a hotel management career after BBA, you can opt for a PG Diploma or a Masters level programme in Hotel Management like MHM (Masters in Hotel Management).
- Teaching-You can open up your institution. You can work as a teacher at a school/college by clearing exams like CTET or by getting a B.Ed. Degree.
- Work in Foreign Embassies-An often ignored career after BBA for those who like to be exposed to other cultures is to work at foreign embassies.
