How to choose a right career?
A question normally being asked to me in every interaction I had with students. Okinawa, an island in Japan observes highest life expectancy in the world. Upon further research by experts and scientist, they observed this unique way of identifying "a reason to get up in the morning".
They have a mix of 4 things in whatever they do namely, passion, profession, vocation, and mission. With this mix, you not only discover what you love but also can validate it.
In my recent 1:1 session with Aum, he talked about his interest in sports. I further asked him questions related to profession, mission and vocation. He was able to answer most of them and while he was answering these questions he got clarity on the purpose of him willing to pursue "sports management".
We begin with "he wants to do sports management from the UK" and we ended like "I want to pursue sports management from the UK so that I could build a platform for students coming from rural India and willing to pursue sports management.
Now once he got a little clarity on the purpose his approach towards sports management was completely different from earlier, he not only joined a sports academy but also his performance in academics got clearer. That's the work clarity does. I feel blessed when I do my bit by helping these students.
This shift was happening just because I was following a very specific methodology that I designed to identify a career choice.
Did you come across any student who is willing to get clarity on the career? Do mention to them about IKIGAI concept. It's helpful and empowering.
