Nice to hear that you are good at basics, coming to advance concepts, you need to first clear with concept and you need to visualize the picture how program is going to flow. As you get clear concept visulization then your hands will go through the program code. I'm sure you are puzzled while implementing program.
I would say spend some time with "C" progamming forums, then you will get hands on confidence and you won't get stuck any more.
