Yes, if you are interested to do a M.tech in India (in Various IIT's & IISc) or settle yoursef in a Public Sector job GATE is the only option after B.Tech.

B.Tech in Mechanical Engg from NIT Surat, Training officer Govt of NCT of Delhi

Definitely it is, because most of the PSUs recruit through GATE. Even If you want to persue M.Tech you have to accuire good rank in GATE.
