Is it okay to punish college students if they don't do work properly because some parents tell they need result only and they insist on beating and punishing students but as a tutor, I am finding it difficult to balance between parents and students?

Counselling is the best way to make the bond with students, and we have to change the methods(more practical) to teach so they can take an interest in studies.

Counselling and inspiring will do. Punishment will not make any positive impact in the long run.

I disagree for this. I treat my students as friends and make them come in my route.

As much as it's concerned with college students, they are /must be mature enough to shoulder their own fate. It's the parent's job to make their children understand why they must learn and get educated. Your duty is to educate them, if they're not serious then their parents should work on it. If someone is not listening to it's parents/guardians then why would they listen to a teacher whose job is to teach a subject, not a life. You'll end up taking too much stress by doing more than your job allows you to. read less

No punishment can't always do the needful to students. U have to make them realise there issues as far as possible as local gurdian/friend. But some times, if needed, they can be punished but not physically; in any other suitable way.

No, knowledge orientation is important than result inform parents that percentage doesn't matters if the student securing more than 60% is more then enough

NO. beating anybody for not doing work is not justifiable. Instead, we should try to find out the reasons why a particular person does not want to do that work. and try to resolve that reasons instead of beating them.
