Oil painting is the process of painting with pigments that are bound with a medium of drying oil. Commonly used drying oils include linseed oil, The paint didn't dry as quickly. This made for smooth transitions in modelling and made for a more realistic picture. We will discuss composition, technique, principles of light and shade and a range of other painting related topics. Almost all of the lessons will apply to any medium or subject matter but the focus will be specific to still life in oil.
