Learning scales:
Major scale general formula:
- Root(tone), major2nd(tone), major3rd(semi-tone), perfect 4th(tone), perfect 5th(tone), major6th(tone), major7th(semi-tone), octave
- "Tone" means a whole step interval between two notes. For instance in C major scale the interval between the root note, which is C and the major 2nd note which would be D is a whole step.
- In short, major scales can be learned without memorising each one of the 12 scales but by treating them as one.
- Which means that if we choose any musical note and we want to play the major scale of that note then just apply the intervals as mentioned above.
