If a person wants to become a singer, does he/she needs to know Carnatic or Hindustani? My question may be tricky. But I want some suggestion like at the age of 23 can a person become a singer by attending music classes? Thanks in Advance.

There is no age limit on starting to learn to be a singer. Many great singers didn't start young. If you want to become a singer, first shortlist some good music institutes like www.bluetimbre.com and then attend a demo session/assessment where you can be evaluated for potential. 

 

Enroll at a good music school which can teach you from the very basic of music including the theory and techniques, not just songs. Work hard, practise daily and you will see a huge improvement in just a few months.

Dear Manoj, There are several curriculum that you can follow for keyboard Learning. The most well known include: Trinity College of Music, Rockschool, ABRSM etc: All of them begin with introduction to the keyboard called the "Initial" or "Debut" Level Grade. Then it ranges from Grade One all the way upto Grade Eight. After this, you can pursue the diploma level in Keyboard. The syllabus is of two types, there is "Classicial" - Mozart, Beethoven etc: OR there is the Comtemporary syllabus. If you are interested in Classical, we would recommend either Trinity or ABRSM. However, if you are interested in Contemporary (Rock, Pop, Jazz, Funk, Electro) music, we would recommend Rockschool. Hi, I am interested in learning singing. I have given performance at school level. After that I am not in touch with music. Also, I have difficulty in singing high notes. Kindly suggest which type of music should I carry on for practicing?

Hi Ankita, firstly you need to decide what type of music/songs you are interested in singing - classical, Hindustani or western. Based on the type, there are several different vocal exercises you can do to help you vocal cords develop and become more flexible. This can help you reach the high notes that you might want. However, don't be disheartened if you cannot reach very high notes, look at Usha Uthup - the famous singer. She only sings in a low pitch. Ultimately, it is all about what you want to sing. Dear Ankuraj, If you want to become a DJ, we suggest you begin by learning the fundamentals of Music. You can learn this via piano/Keyboard. Unless you understand how music is made, how will you be able to create music? Once your fundamentals are in place, you can begin by learning about electronic music and mixing music. You could also intern with various DJs in the city and find out about how you can grow your career as a DJ.
