Overview

I have been teaching Western Classical and Popular Music, subjects Violin, Viola, Piano, Guitar, Vocals and Music theory for over 10 years. I have had the privilege of teaching and conducting workshops at reputed academies centred around Kolkata as well as the rest of India. I have performed with and led orchestras and ensembles in India and overseas; I am experienced in film music recording and performance.

My primary motivation as a music teacher is to spread the accuracy of technique, posture, intonation and style that I have been fortunate to receive from my teachers, and to work towards a holistic understanding of music. Students follow the standardized international curriculum set by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), London, and appear for yearly examinations judged by veteran British examiners from ABRSM, earning internationally recognized degrees.

Western Music requires solid structure and trained teaching. It is my commitment to provide students with an authentic method to approach this vast genre of music.

I don't think it is possible to establish an objective ranking system in the field of performing arts! Indian music (both classical and popular) is a vast area, and some extremely talented masters have left their mark on it over the years. There can't be one 'best singer', but we can all have our favourites.
My personal favourite among the great Indian classical masters as Ustad Amir Khan, who was the founder of the Indore Gharana. In Indian popular music, Mohammed Rafi is my all-time favourite. Among contemporary popular singers, I really like Sanam Puri for his signature voice and versatility.
