I am 24 years old. I want to build my career in singing. I am an untrained singer and wanted to be a playback singer. What should I do from the beginner level? Should I learn Carnatic music or something else? Please share your valuable feedback.

If you want to become a playback singer, there's a lot more things to learn than just classical music. Yes, the base of classical music is required, but also the dynamics of a song, modulation as per actor for whom you will song, and "feel". Trust me, feel is the most important, rest all can be managed because of technology. I am myself a playback singer and I have seen what music directors expect from a singer, FEEL.

There is a solid example of Kishore kumarji, who did not learn, but he had that knack of Bollywood style. He used to LISTEN Indian and Western music very keenly, and tried to embibe them.

So what I want to say is you must listen carefully to songs, the way singer sings,their feel, try to copy that, along with learning basics of classical music. It will ease things for you.

Hello Asish ji, To become a Playback Singer. you need to find a good tutor who can give you personal training. And if we talk about carnatic or North Indian Classical Singing so it depends, You want to go for South Indian Playback or North Indian Playback. Both are equally a fruitful and unique experiences. And Most important thing to be a Playback is "Daily Riyaz" with your Guru. When you feel you are doing good in singing than Try to perform in small concerts with the help of Event Companies. And Keep Working Hard in singing Field and Never Give up.

Whatever you choose in life after this, whether Hindustani Classical Vocal or Carnatic Classical Vocal is entirely your choice and either of them will greatly benefit you and that will be a good foundation to effectively handle Bollywood or any other commercial music. But the question I wanna ask you is where are you located ? That will determine a lot of things.

First, start learning classical Music along with joining some vocal sharpness activities or classes or do it your self if your target is playback singing. Hello ashish if you want to be a playback singer in bollywood you just need to start learning in indian classical music...the best one your choice to pick up the north indian classical music n when you search in your circle you will be get the right teacher .... n also you can learn western music that help you to build some modern music knowledge that is popular in indian bollywood music ..... but first step is that learn at 2 or 3 year only indian classical music to development of your vocals.... then you able to understand whats the requirements of today time music ..... i think i could help you with my knowledge n .... but all depends on your decision what you pick for your self to develop you as a playback singer
