The physical quantities are of two types,one is scalar and one is vector.Scalar quantity is the quantity which is dependent only on numerical value or magnitude.Vector quantity is dependent on both magnitude and direction.For eg: When we say distance between two places,we mention 2km or 3 km which is numerical value i.e scalar whereas when we say displacement i.e shortest distance that can be covered,we say 1km north and 1km east i.e direction is mentioned.(vector quantity).
