All art forms, regardless of its origin and style has its own difficulties and benefits. When looking into the very basics of these art forms-
1. Bharatanatyam- The first step of basic steps learned by an artist is Thattadavus. This is one of the easiest set of adavus to learn as it is only tapping of the feet. This is one reason many parents choose to teach Bharatanatyam to their little children as these movements are easier to understand. But later going, we see different sets of adavus with a few complicated steps. But by the time, the student no matter how young or old they are, will feel it very easy to understand the movements.
2. Kuchipudi- The very basics of Kuchipudi might feel a little complicated for young children to learn. It feels complicated because it includes both the hand and leg movements. But as the understanding of these adavus takes place, it makes it very easy for them to catch up with the further adavus.
As both the artforms are different in various patterns, it is very hard to find a suitable answer. But we can say that when starting classical dance lessons for children, it would be best if we choose Bharatanatyam. But for adults, it will be easy to handle both.
