Dear Parents...
I am mother of kid who is currently are studying in the school
1. No importance to sports. Just before the sports day the children are and grilled asked to play. games after that no organised play taught to children whole year through.
2. Teachers change every term.
3. The fees are increased every term.
4. English grammar which is the strength of ICSE board is given least importance
5, Senior classes do not have trained ICSE teachers .
6. The teachers keep grudge against the child if you complain about the teachers behaviour
7. PT meeting are completely disorganised and doesn't justify the purpose.
8. No proper receipt given for money collected for Books etc.
9. Children still do not have ID cards even after 10 years of Inception.
Fees was initially 3 terms now for past 2 years it is 4 terms
Positive
1. Small class size

2. Teachers some time go out of the way to solve children's query

This is very bad. Teacher at lower level are not trained to handle kids. Teaching pathetic to say. They support only roto method and kill what every little creativety a child has. I pulled out my kid. for the past 3 years he did not want to go to the school because of teachers attitude.
Management doesnot listen to parents complaints and suggestions.

This review is about the Grove School situated in eldams road, alwarpet, Chennai. My son is studying in that school. I have few

things to tell about this school. My son is studying in that school from pre-kg.

1. The teachers keep changing every year, I feel upto std 5th the same set of teachers should handle the subjects so that the

children get a kind of belongingness to the teachers and eventually they like the subject and show extreme interest in studies.

Sometimes teachers do change within a year and kids suffer until a replacement is found.

2. The HM is a kind of shrew, she yells at everyone including parents with no respect at all, this could be the reason for

frequenct change in the teachers, the teachers simply join and resign the subsequent year. She does not dress neatly, she wears her

saree in a such an awkward way, that even mallika sherawat would be shy to wear.

3. The teachers payments are good compared to many schools and lot of part time teachers are also employed by the school, this

makes i difficult to speak to those teachers after the school or on the designated day since they leave by 12 noon. Many teachers

don't have the skill to handle the primary grade children, they need to complete a special diplomo to handle them. Many teachers

are mothers of kids studying in grove school and saraswati kendra, which is a special school in the same compound for slow

learners.

4. None of the teachers share email id, mobile numbers with parents, just in case if we need to query on soemthing.

5. They don't have any facility to SMS the parents or email the parents.

6. They don't have a good website to keep updating the information about the school. Check the websites of Chettinad HArishree

Vidyalayam and YGP Calibre for an example. Grove school website is not updated and shows information which is 2 years old atleast,

possibly at the time of site creation, whatever was updated, it remains there.

7. Children are not treated equally, there are some kids whose families are close to the management, they are treated in a very

different manner than the others. These special children's smallest achievement is also encourgaed and applauded in all the school

functions in a great manner, but when other children do greater achievements they are not mentioned at all, leave alone

applauding.... Also these children even if they are naughty or mischeivous they don't bother the other guy/girl only gets the

shouting from the HM, even though the fault may be with kid which is special for the school.

8. Lot of features are still getting built.

9. All schools take 3 terms fees, these people take 4 terms fee. The next academic year's 1st term fee is collected before the

current academic year's 4 th term fees. Fee ranges from 6500 - 9000 as per the classes per term. Apart from this, they collect fee

for books, uniforms, vans so on.

10. Extra curricular activities are not conducted properly, but fee is collected for 1 quarter upfront. They don't have enough

space to conduct all these. With one TT board, they have 10 kids waiting to play.

11. No proper canteen facilities, last year it was started which just sells 1 or 2 items for lunch, not much choices.

12. Library books cannot be borrowed by the students.

13. No Parents and Teachers day conducted, where in the parents meet up and discuss issues, this has been dropped purposely to

avoid parents meeting each other and speak the issues.

14. There is a day at the end of every term to collect the report card and parents can walkin between 9-12 to collect, so no

parents meet each other and discuss the issues.

15. One good thing about the school is they don't beat (physically) the kids, but often are sent out of the class and lose lessons,

this makes them too difficult to learn. Also the teachers humiliate the children a lot for a smallest mistake too.

16. No parking space for parents' vehicles, not even little bit.

17. One floor of the school is completely covered by Asbestos sheets which makes it too difficult to sit for the kids during hot

season which is the 80% of the days in chennai.


Positive side:

1. Small in size, each class has only one section comprising of 30-35 kids, hence better indvidual attention

2. Syllabus is good, they follow ICSE syllabus, but some books are written by the school's correspondent Ms. Nanditha Krishna

herself. But when compared with other schools following the same syllabus, they don't have this book by this Madam.

3. Feedback from parents are always ignored or thrashed.

4. Education they say, activity based, but oflate i don't see it that way, but there is a project day conducted which is good, some

selective kids are asked to create projects and they are laid for display and parents are invited to see them. This is good.
