I thought I would try something new and fun. This is my first lesson every posted on UrbanPro! Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world, and it is a very exciting langauage. Fun fact, Spanish is the language of love and romance. It derives from Latin, which is one of the oldest known languages to man on the Western side of the world. Most students either learn Spanish for a hobby, or for career purporses on here, so let me be the first to say that both reasons are absolutely great. Spanish can really help you advance in your career, there's nothing better than having it on your CV or resume. In USA alone, there is a huge demand for Bi-lingual Spanish candidates. Just by speaking Spanish alone, you have a 99% chance of getting a higher salary. Along with getting paid more, there is no language more fun than Spanish. While learning spanish, you can learn about all the amazing foods that the Spanish countries cook, the rich culture and customs they have, as well as their holidays and parties! Now, I like to try and make my classes fun, so in my classes, we will definitely be exploring the culture, as well as the language.
Now, the most basic and fundamental part of the language is the Alphabet. Similar to the English alphabet, it also has A-Z, with an extra letter in there, which is called ñ, pronounced as (N-yeh). This alphabet letter sounds like an N and a Y sound together (NYUH). Keep in mind that the H is silent in Spanish, and is never pronounced, unless it sits next to the c, making it CH, which gives it a cha cha cha kind of sound. The last thing to remember about the Spanish alphabet is that, the J carries the H sound in Spanish, hahaha, sounds pretty confusing, but its easy once you memorize it.
