Hey There, I believe Manual concepts + fundamentals are equally imp for Manual + Automation testing. - Now, Automation would vary on case to case basis. Its kind of demand - supply. - some companies work on web application, for them QTP, Selenium are required. Now, again this depends on budget - QTP being licensed version and Selenium being Open Source - SOme companies work on API - SOAP/ Rest, for them SOAPui, ParaSOft SOAtest are important, Again soapui being free+ licensed version and SOAtest being only licensed version now, assume you are trained on QTP, you may be able to grasp selenium but u cannot soapUI. Now, this was all onto functional side, the other side of the story if Performance testing. So, to conclude to excel in any career or rather for now, say QA you need following:- 1. Manual Testing Concepts 2. Any 1 programming language and/or 1 scripting language 3. Domain Knowledge Everything else depends on the opportunity you get or rather project / company u get to work. Now on top of this if you have certification, its kind of more you add sugar to tea and tea gets sweeter. Please dunno hesitate to reach out to me for any clarification. Good Luck Manish read less
