He or should be well versed with
(1) Strong ABAP coding skills
(2) Working knowledge of ABAP on OOPs,
(3) Excellent database connectivity related coding including extracting, indexing, updating, subroutines, call programs, modular and structured programming and performance tuning.
(4) Strong knowledge in using alternative methods of data transfer since bdc is outdated technology, this may include Idocs using ale / edi / PI / PO methods.
(5) More recent skills like ABAP on Hana would be great plus.
(6) Good knowledge on basic functional modules like MM, SD, FI, their end to end business cycle and knowing how to work on the specific programs related to these modules.
(7) expertise in reporting using oops, alv. expertise in forms (older versions of sapscripts and the new smartforms) within the functional modules mentioned above.
(8) expert ability to write and understand technical specifications, testing cycles (unit / integration and uat).
(9) good communications skills, good understanding skills, good business written and reading of business english mandatory.
(10) any foreign language is a plus, you may gain a position easily with any european client, say for eg if you have german skills you can think of a german client where jobs are plenty.
