Firstly, I would like to tell you that velocity is displacement per unit time not the distance. Speed depend on the distance covered, independent of direction in which distance is covered where as in case of velocity, one has to focus on distance covered as well as direction. Firstly, I would like to tell you that velocity is displacement per unit time not the distance. Speed depend on the distance covered, independent of direction in which distance is covered where as in case of velocity, one has to focus on distance covered as well as direction. Considered a case if I start from a point A and ends at point A only after covering a distance of 100 m what ever the path. Your total distance covered is 100 m but your total dispalcement is zero as well as you velocity.
