  1. Python doesn’t work for device drivers. Device drivers have to be super-fast and ultra-responsive. Python doesn’t tend to be either. Device-drivers have to run standalone. Python has a large run-time system. Python uses a garbage collection system somewhat like Java. In some cases, pauses for garbage collection are intolerable.
  2. Python can’t be used on some really small computers.
  3. Python doesn’t really run in the Browser. Tools and solutions exist for this problem. However, JavaScript is (by far) the dominant tool for front-end programming, not Python.

Python isn’t that portable. Actually, Python is super-portable. However, you must have the Python run-time already installed.

I would first recommend taking some good Linear Algebra course, you would need some intuitive understanding about concepts like linear leas squares, singular value decomposition, normal equations,etc....
