I was an English Teacher....I was involved iin improving the overall English of students that I taught...In order to enhance the spoken English skills...I conducted various activities for the students...like word building...understanding the meaning of words and using them in sentences...and gradually moving on to joining these sentences through a conversation...I also conducted role play taking topics from everyday scenarios like...seeking an appointment from a Doctor...or reserving a seat for bus travel...or interacting with a sales person at a mall...or asking a stranger for directions......all these activities helped to boost the confidence and build their vocabulary...I also conducted loud reading activities...like reading an article from a magazine or newspaper...picking out the the difficult words...looking up for their meaning...and discussing on the meaning and context of the words in the article...... I also played games like ...what's the good word....in order to build their vocabulary...this involved ...giving clues or any information relevant to the word and trying to guess the word...... Making students feel comfortable about the language and try to speak the language with ease was the key focus during my sessions... I also had informal chats with students...for example...talking about their weekend activities or likes and dislikes in food...games...subjects...etc These and many more such activities were instrumental in making the students speak English fluently and confidently....
