I’ve never seen a glaring painting “mistake" so far. The reference painting he's referring to is off camera. We did a local Bob Ross class, though, in which a tree in the reference painting was omitted in the class and also in the episode. It's not a mistake technically, but the reference painting looks much better to me with the tree in it. He probably just ran out of time. If something were a real disaster, I would expect them to just retape or edit the episode so it wouldn't be obvious that anything had gone wrong. It does appear that on YouTube Bob Ross outtakes and bloopers exist. I've not delved into these. :P
