This class is for BSc students. This course complete the thermodynamics and statistical physics. It is based on HPU Shimla and other universities of India. In this course firstly we study about Tatistical physics and intrduction to probability. Types of statistics Maxwell Boltzmann, Bose Einstein and Fermi Dirac Statistics. In thermodynamics we study Laws of thermodynamics, Zerorh law of thermodynamics, First law of thermodynamic, second law of thermodynamic, Entropy, 3rd law of thermodynamics. Thermodynamic potentials, Maxwell thermodynamic Relations and their applications, cooling produced by adiabatic sretching, adiabatic compression adiabatic stretching, stretching of wire, stretching of thin films. Change of internal energy with volume Clausius-Clapeyron equation. Thermodynamic treatment ofJoule-Thomson effect for liquefaction of Helium. Production of very low temperature by adiabatic demagnetisation, TdS equation.
