Each training session would last about an hour. (Timing of the real IELTS Speaking test is 11-14 minutes.) The speaking sessions would cover Tasks 1,2,3.
Part I comprises of the introduction, general questions on topics such as home, family, work, hobbies, art, pets, newspapers, television, food.......The student would be trained to answer a range of questions.
Part II comprises of the cue-card or the Long Turn. In this task, the student is given a topic and some guidelines on how to answer (why, what, how, where...questions on the topic.) A preparation time of a minute is given, further to that, the student speaks for about two minutes . This task is often problematic as students make errors in the tenses, prepositions, articles and the sentence structures in general. Often, deviation from the question occurs owing to which the closure is not possible within the stipulated time.
Part III deals with more general and abstract questions related to the Task II question. The student should be able to analyse, speculate, give opinions and views on various topics with examples and explanations. Common topics include art, clothing, education, culture, environment, food, internet, media, travel, society and work.
